Dear Parents and carers

I would like to reassure parents that we are continuing to follow Government guidelines to ensure the safety of pupils and staff attending school during the global pandemic.

From Monday 9th November, all staff and pupils who are able to will be expected to wear face masks in communal areas around the school. This will include corridors and the school hall. We recognise that several of our pupils, due to their individual needs, are exempt from wearing face coverings. If your child is unable to wear a mask, or you would like to discuss this, please could you let their class teacher know.

In addition to wearing face masks, we are continuing to take the following precautions in school:

- Limiting class movement around the school

- Encouraging regular hand washing

- Staggering break times and lunchtimes

- Increased cleaning

- Keeping pupils and staff with coronavirus symptoms at home

- Engaging with NHS track and trace

A reminder that when your child has PE on their timetable, please send them to school in PE kit. As the weather becomes cooler, jogging bottoms or leggings are acceptable. If they have a PE lesson on Friday, they can wear mufti, although this needs to be suitable clothing for their PE lesson. PE lessons will be held outside as often as possible.

If, during the course of term 2 your child is unable to attend because they are complying with clinical and/or public health advice given to them (e.g. if they are self-isolating and waiting for a test result), school staff will continue to set work for them to complete at home. We will use information provided by you during parent consultations to ensure the work set is most accessible for your child.

If you have any questions, worries or concerns please feel free to contact your child’s class tutor or myself at the school. In the meantime, I would like to thank our parents and carers for all of their support during this time and for the positive feedback received by our teaching staff during our recent consultations. We will continue to keep you informed should guidance or requirements for schools be updated again.

Yours sincerely,

Amanda Jagot

(Head of School)
